Spring Cleaning Your Temple

Spring is such a welcoming time of year. We look over winter’s cold hibernation of our plant life and trees. As Spring nears we witness a renewal – new leaves, new life is around the corner. The hibernation has done its job – a period of rest and inactivity and metabolic change in nature.

Our bodies need rest as well. We can hibernate from old habits and lifestyle. Our bodies need renewing and our cells need new life and the Spring time is a perfect time to clean house.

Most people will concentrate on spring cleaning their homes, but what about the home that Jesus resides in? Spring cleaning our Temples will bring about amazing wellness and a refreshing of our internal systems.

Here are some helpful hints about how to spring clean our bodies:

Get the Trash Out - This could apply to junk foods. We all know when we eat something that is classified junk food. Why not go through your cabinets of “food clutter” and throw out your junk foods. We will wash the walls of debris that has cluttered our colon, stomach, blood or internal organs.

Restore the Luster – Dust away the old habits. That doesn’tmean sweep the dirt under the carpet but changing what we eat and improving our dietand lifestyle. We can bring a new luster to our overall health. Simply by adding more raw foods, juices, and green smoothies you will see your skin enjoy a new vigor of health. Your whole being will begin to feel better, look better and function better. You will shine with a luster of renewed health.

A Period of Rest - This is a great time to do a three to five day Juice Fast or perhaps the “Daniel Fast.” (Click here for instructions). This will in a sense put your body’s organs into hibernation (a rest) for a short period of time as your cells duplicate into newer and healthier ones. This rest period will bring about renewed strength, a new vigor, more energy and new joy.

Give Away the Clutter – We really must be good stewards of the money that God has provided for us. So, as you clean out your pantries of the “undesirables” give the food clutter away. I know what you are thinking; “why give the bad food to someone we care about?” God has not addressed their diet and lifestyle with them yet, it is still food in their minds so the “give away” will be appreciated. There really is some value to “Out of sight, out of mind.”

Storage – It is time to put more knowledge into storage. Our brains (and emotions) need constant renewing. Read a health book, create some new recipes and store these new things in your brain. Your newly clean body will be better equipped to readily store new information.

Sense of Accomplishment - When we get organized, things fall into place much better. You will have more joy and peace because you have Spring Cleaned your inside space. When we feel better about ourselves we spread that joy and peace in all we do and in all who we encounter.

Proverbs 24:27 states “Finish your outdoor (or inside) work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house.” God is telling us to get our temples ready and build our house – His house.

As we set out to spring clean our body we will reap the benefits of God’s wisdom. Proverbs 14:23 says, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” God says we must walk the talk. We will reap what we sow; choose this day blessings or cursing. Sow into the lifestyle changes that will reap good health for you.
